Senior Management Team

Chief Executive Officer – Dave Alderton

From an accounting and manufacturing background, Dave joined Tropico in 2009. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Dave has competed in some of the world’s toughest marathons and triathlons. Originally from South Africa, the father of four is a Springbok supporter first and then barracks for any team playing against the All Blacks.


Financial Controller – Robyn Smith

Robyn has embraced the Tropico Culture, Sunshine Coast lifestyle and is enjoying being part of the team 

Quality Manager – Dermott Douglas-Brown

Dermott's experience in quality and product development is wide ranging, and he brings a depth of knowledge to the Tropico team.

Product Development Manager – Melanie Brown

Melanie’s forte is in the area of fruit preparations, syrups and sauces for yoghurt and ice cream applications. Originally from the Central Coast of NSW, Mel’s favourite tropical fruit is the pineapple but she also likes SE Asian varieties like the mangosteen and lychee. When she’s not sporting a lab coat, you’ll find her either tending to her vegie patch or cooking, and she barracks for the NSW Blues.


Production Manager – Michael Gilby

As Tropico’s Production Manager, Michael’s department is responsible for delivering qulity products to specification every time. He is a keen triathlete and his sporting loyalty crosses the borders as a Queensland Reds supporter who also backs the Parramatta Eels in league and Liverpool FC in soccer. 


Supply Chain Manager – Chris Giles

Chris’s experience in the horticulture industry across various types of fruits and vegetables, knowledge of the Australian transport and logistics industry along with export service providers and his strong people skills make him an integral part of the Tropico team. Originally from Geelong, Victoria (and still a Geelong Cats supporter), Chris has lived on the Coast since 1980. He lives here with his wife and four children.


Technical Sales Advisor - Paul Simmonds

From an R&D, QA and operations background, Paul's sporting loyalties extend to  State of Origin time, or when the Lions are doing well. He is also annually absent from the Christmas party due to "First test at the Gabba"  commitments.
